miraDry – a complete solution for underarm sweating, odour and hair
- Are you bothered by your underarm sweat or odour?
- Do you frequently apply antiperspirant?
- Are you frustrated over constantly ruining clothes?
- Are you worried about underarm sweat outbreaks?
- Would you like to control your sweat without harsh chemicals?
More than 5% of the population experience excessive underarm sweating. The medical term for this is axillary hyperhidrosis. Underarm sweat and odour can be a daily struggle that interferes with nearly every aspect of life, affecting emotional well-being and self image. Underarm sweat can lead to anxiety at work, or embarrassment in relationships and social settings. It can be frustrating having to wear clothes that hide your sweat, or continually throwing away clothes that have been ruined. This is where miraDry® Sweat Treatment can help you.
And it is not just for people with medically diagnosed hyperhidrosis. MiraDry® is now becoming increasingly popular as a lifestyle choice. Many of our patients are concerned about the use of harsh chemicals in modern antiperspirants, or are simply excited to have a one-off treatment with permanent results.
In 2020, miraDry® is now also an approved treatment for underarm odour (medically known as “bromhidrosis”) and for hair reduction. Unlike laser and IPL hair reduction technology, miraDry® is not attracted to the pigment in the hair and so can be effective on hair of all colours.
Looking for help with excessive sweating of your hands and/or feet?
There is a lasting solution that can make embarrassing sweat a thing of the past.
The miraDry® sweat treatment procedure is quick, non-invasive and performed under local anaesthetic. The miraDry® System delivers precisely controlled energy to the region where the underarm sweat glands reside, and removes the sweat glands non-invasively. Because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after treatment, the results are lasting. Results are also fast – you can expect to see sweat reduction immediately after treatment, with minimal to no downtime.
*Results may very from person to person. Please make an appointment with our clinic to discuss your options.
The miraDry® sweat treatment procedure uses the only non-invasive technology that is FDA and TGA cleared and clinically proven to dramatically reduce sweat and provide lasting results. Now there is a lasting solution to sweat control that doesn’t use harsh chemicals, toxins or surgery.
As the first clinic in Western Australia to use the miraDry® system back in 2014, the experienced team at The Skin Clinic Fremantle have since performed over 250 treatments.

FAQ’s about miraDry® Sweat Treatment in Perth
The miraDry sweat treatment procedure is quick, non-invasive and provides a lasting solution for underarm sweat. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. The handpiece from the miraDry System, when placed on the underarm, delivers precisely controlled energy to the region where the sweat glands reside and removes sweat glands non-invasively. The sweat glands don’t grow back once eliminated, resulting in a dramatic and lasting reduction of underarm sweat.
The procedure involves no surgical incisions or cuts. Local anesthesia is painlessly administered to the underarms prior to the procedure to maintain comfort. We shall customise the treatment for each underarm area with multiple placements of the miraDry® handpiece. A treatment will generally take about an hour during which time you can lie back, relax and watch television or listen to music. Two procedures spaced three months apart are recommended to maximize the results and duration, although some patients with a lower level of original sweating will only require one treatment.
Most patients report a dramatic reduction of their sweat – in the original clinical study, the average sweat reduction was 86% after 2 treatments. You should see a reduction in sweat immediately after treatment. As with any medical procedure, results will vary by person.
The results are lasting because the sweat glands do not come back or regenerate after they have been eliminated. The miraDry® procedure uses a safe, non-invasive microwave technology that is FDA and TGA cleared to eliminate sweat glands in the underarm. MiraDry is also approved by the FDA to treat underarm odour (bromhidrosis) and as a hair removal system.
Your body contains over 4 million sweat glands, with only about 2% located in the underarms. Eliminating this 2% will not affect the body’s ability to cool itself.
Other treatment options are designed to temporarily disable the sweat glands, or involve surgery which contains inherent risks. Only the miraDry procedure provides a lasting solution with a non-invasive treatment.
If embarrassing underarm sweat outbreaks, odour, stained clothing or frequent antiperspirant application interfere with your daily life, then you may be a good candidate for the miraDry® procedure. Since becoming available in Australia in 2014, miraDry® has also become popular with people who would simply like to control underarm sweat without the use of chemical antiperspirants. This procedure is suitable for treatment of axillary (armpit) sweating. Please contact us to find out options for other treatment areas.
If you would like a permanent solution then miraDry® may well be the answer. The miraDry® treatment costs $2500-3600, equal to 3-4 non-subsidised hyperhydrosis injections. If you require only 3 sessions of hyperhydrosis injections per year, over one and a half years you would have paid for miraDry® with no further ongoing costs.
A full treatment course is usually 2 sessions, spaced 3 months apart. However, with our experienced clinicians we find that 80% of patients only need one treatment session. The cost of treatment varies depending upon armpit size and usually ranges from $2100 to $3600. A second treatment (if required) will be 30% less than your first treatment. There is no rebate from either Medicare or private insurance at the current time. Please note that individualised pricing is available at your consultation with our doctor.
You can pay for your treatment with cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, American Express or zipPay.
